I don’t like getting political.  No matter what your stance or how carefully you choose your words, someone is going to get fired up about what you say.  Someone is about to call me an irresponsible citizen for saying this, but I’ve only voted in two presidential elections out of the four which have occurred since I turned eighteen.  The first time I did so was because I was voting against someone who I really didn’t want to see in office for another four years.  The second time was because I actually believed that we needed change, and I believed that the man I voted for also believed it.

Maybe it’s because I’m getting older that I’m actually paying attention to political stories now.  Last night was the first time I didn’t cuss at the television when my regularly scheduled show was being pushed beneath a presidential speech.  (Even though I really wanted to watch WipeOut and Crash Course)  Last night was also the first time I didn’t change the channel.  Instead I watched the speech.  I watched my congressman, who lives less than five miles from my house, call our president a liar.

I don’t give a damn that he apologized for it afterward.  An apology isn’t enough.

Not only did you disrespect our Commander-in-Chief, Mr. Wilson, but you called him out as a liar for a statement which has been proven as truth.  You do not represent my interests, and your services as my congressmen are no longer desired.  Please make way for someone who will help our government move forward instead of stalling it.

Michael Moore, Where Are You?

It’s time to make a new documentary.  The topic for this one can be the one-sided reporting on this entire Russia-Georgia conflict.

The United States media is making Russia out to be the aggressor in this little conflict, and not mentioning South Ossetia at all.  In fact, on a FOX News report, when interviewing some Americans who were over there when all of this started, they broke away from the interview TWICE when the people tried to explain what caused all of this.

America, I strongly encourage everyone to read their news from more than one angle.  Check out The Guardian, for starters.

One other point to consider is this:  When the South tried to break away from the United States, the United States went to war.  Has the U. S. changed it’s policy on that?  Because I know this state is full of rednecks who’d like to try again.  ;)

I hate the Olympics and I hate the media…

Have you heard how awesome Michael Phelps is?  Apparently he is a better swimmer than Aquaman.  Like, the fastest thing in water since… ever.  So fast, in fact, that he won the 100 meter freestyle relay BY HIMSELF!

If you watched any news reports about the relay race yesterday, and there were several different reports, you might understand what I’m talking about.  On the last leg of the relay race, America was almost a full body-length behind France.  In a heroic display of effort, Michael Phelps swam like a fish to overtake the Frenchman and win the event.

Wait…  that’s not how it happened at all.  Michael Phelps had already swum his lap, and America was behind.  It was Jason Lezak who put on the water-jets and snatched victory from his ass.  A 32-year old man came from behind and beat the French world-record holder for the 100m freestyle.  But did the media talk about that?  Hell no.  They couldn’t shut up about how Michael Phelps was on-track for winning eight gold medals.  In fact, the most aired video clip wasn’t the final seconds of the race, where Lezak wins by a fingernail.  It was of Michael Phelps screaming like some wild barbarian.

What the fuck is wrong with this country when we celebrate the arrogant dream of someone more than we celebrate the actual victory that his teammate brought home?

I hope Phelps doesn’t get his eight gold medals.  I hope he doesn’t get five.  The Olympics aren’t supposed to be about one person.  They’re supposed to be about the world.

In other news, Russia invaded the hell of of Georgia.  Obama is planning a trip to Atlanta to survey the damage.  ;)

I don’t express my political views very often because I really don’t have any.  My parents wer/are Republicans, so growing up I always assumed that I was one too.  I like my stuff, and I want to keep the stuff that I’ve worked for, and fuck everyone else!  Yeah…  I guess that sounds pretty Republican to me.  But I don’t agree with the actions of the past few Republican presidents.  I actually think that Bill Clinton was the best president of my lifetime, even if he did toy with a woman who couldn’t keep her mouth shut.  (And if she kept her mouth shut, he probably wouldn’t have been interested.  BING!)

I normally avoid voting for president, because I’ve never felt “informed enough” to trust myself voting for one person over the other.  I’ve also harbored the belief that all presidential hopefuls become the same damn person once they’re elected.  Anyways, I’ve been paying attention to this election.  I don’t want another GWB in office, and feel like it’s my responsibility to do my part to prevent that.

According to this poll I am in the upper-right quadrant.  Closest to Ron Paul in my political stance, and furthest from Huckabee.  Considering that Huckabee said something about taking the nation back for Jesus, I agree with my distance from him.  I love God and all…  but I don’t want a Jesus-crispy in office.  That’s the first step in mounting a holy war.

I found the poll to be rather interesting.  If I was going to vote Republican this year, I would picked McCain.  I think that a president should have seen combat, and know how terrible it really is, because it will make them consider exactly what they’re doing when they send troops overseas to secure oil freedom.  I’m hesitant about McCain, though, because I can’t imagine coming out of a prison camp and not being fucked up in the head.

If I was going to vote Democrat, I think I’d pick Obama.  Hillary scares me.  I’m worried about Obama’s lack of experience, though.  If he gets into office, will anyone take him seriously, or will he just be “the new kid” who spends four years as a lame duck?

I haven’t decided who is getting my vote yet, but I’m surprised to see that I’m split between parties in my decision.
